Catherine Russell "CAT"

The Catherine Russell CD "CAT" is currently one of my absolute favorites. Russell is economical, precise and can flat out sing. She is comfortable in a range of styles that covers the blues, swing jazz, standards, soul/R&B and a touch of country. Now, covering a wide range of genres is nothing new these days. Many artists have made bloated attempts in an effort to prove their eclectic tastes but Catherine Russell actually pulls it off seemingly without effort but with class and substance. She's a real find. One of those artists whose album you can turn people on to and see there eyes widen with appreciation. She even covers the Grateful Dead's "New Speedway Boogie."
