The Show - The Blog - The Station

I thought I'd take a moment to reflect on the radio show (Through The Listening Glass) and my vision for it and the hope that this Blog can be an interactive catalyst that acts as an extension of it and the local music scene. I envision the radio show to be a showcase for all the music, past and present, that commercial (yech!) radio has forgotten about. That means you'll probably hear the likes of Louis Jordan, Fats Waller, Johnny Burnette, Caravan, Sandie Shaw, X, Ron Sexsmith, local bands...I'm sure you get the idea. Old jazzed up stuff, rockabilly, 60's pop, lounge, psychedelia, progressive, alternative, alt country, standards, reggae and on and on. Commercial radio is now basically six national formats, equally bland with the same music and drivel being spewed in every market. We're fortunate to have a gem like KFSR here in Fresno where a lot of committed DJ's are given the opportunity to play a lot of creative alternative and independent music. It's also a place where local music gets its day and that's important as well. So join the Through The Listening Glass Blog, comment, participate and share. We'll make this thing (whatever it is) grow and prosper. And when you can pitch a little coin KFSR's way it will also go a long way toward keeping things thriving.

Peace,
Don (Dawgfish) Fischer
